This is the strange moment a murdered prisoner had a ‘spliff’ inserted into his mouth as a farewell gift at his funeral. Footage captured at the man’s wake showed the cigarette being placed into his mouth by mourners as he lay inside a coffin. The incident is believed to have happened in the Dominican Republic.

Mourners can be seen placing a cigarette into the dead man’s mouth while others reportedly shout for beer to be spilled on him.

Relatives reportedly made the gesture to honour the man’s fondness for marijuana, the site claims.

He is said to have died after violence flared inside one of the country’s prisons.
