Soundcity MVP Awards: Should Mayorkun Have Won The ‘New Artiste Of The Year’ Award?

Last night, the 2018 Soundcity MVP Awards was held and several top-notch hardworking artistes, snagged an award or two at the show, to include Maleek Berry, Tiwa Savage, Davido and a couple of others.

Now, while the show was hit with its own minor drama, one stood out, the award for the ‘New Artiste Of the Year’ as many are of the belief that Maleek Berry shouldn’t have been the one to snag it.

According to some of the people I talked to about this, they think Mayorkun, is the right artiste for this award.

Despite several top acts to include his boss Davido, clamoring for him to win this award, the category which saw the likes of Maleek Berry, Dice Ailes, Small Doctor, Nadia Nakai and Aslay, yo include Mayorkun himself, saw Maleek Berry taking the win.

Mayorkun is among one of the few that had a great 2017, from dropping hits to include MAMA, Sade and Che Che. He also collaborated with other artistes bringing his distinct talent on there. He topped charts for weeks on ends, headlined many sold out shows and ensured his fans in and outside the country were well entertained.

Maleek made 2017 his bitch dropping hit amazing music from Eko Miami, to Been Calling, as well as several other top tracks I dare call ageless; I mean come!!!

This amazing act did not stop at just dropping new music, he also produced a couple of others for some artistes, made himself available for beautiful collaborations as well and performed at soldout shows in the UK, this young talent also did an awesome job in 2017

However, many just must pick sides between these two acts as they believe just one deserved the award.
